The tide went out one night and didn’t come back the same.
Fishermen say the water turned dark and warm. The gulls stopped screaming. And in the morning, something was lying on the Rotten Beach. Something that breathes slowly, and growls loudly.
They call it Gulletmaw.
It doesn’t sleep. It doesn’t leave. It just waits, mouth open, for someone to feed it. And it only wants one thing.
Eyeballs.
Strange things have started growing in the tide pools since it arrived. Round things. Wet things. Things that blink when you’re not looking. Gulletmaw can smell them ripening, and it is so, so hungry.
So we feed it. We grow its eyes, we pluck them fresh, and we bring them to the water’s edge before they rot. Before it gets impatient.
Because nobody knows what happens if Gulletmaw goes hungry.
And nobody wants to find out 👀🫣
TL;DR: How to Feed the Deep:
- Head to the Rotten Beach
- Play Whack-a-Monster to win Eyeball Seeds

How to play:
1. Head to the Rotten Beach
Walk south of Terra Villa Central to Rotten Beach. There, you’ll find Gulletmaw, waiting for you to feed it Eyeballs.
2. Play Whack-a-Monster to earn Eyeball Seeds
Find the Whack-a-Monster game at the bottom of the pier. You have 60 seconds to hit as many sea monsters as you can:
- Teal = 2 points
- Green = 1 point
- Red/Purple = -3 points (avoid these!)
The more points you score, the more Eyeball Seeds you win.
- You get 3 free rounds every 12 hours.
- Buy up to 2 extra rounds per 12 hours for 500 Buoy Bucks each.
- Rounds reset at 00:00 and 12:00 UTC and don’t carry over, so use them or lose them!
3. Plant your Eyeballs in the Tide Beds
Eyeball Seeds only grow in the purple Tide Beds on the Rotten Beach.
- Plant a seed and water it. It’s ready in 2 minutes. Fertilizer speeds things up. You might want to water them more… you’ll learn why below ⬇️
- Once it’s ready, harvest it fast! Ready Eyeballs dry out and die after 3 minutes (hover over a crop to see the countdown). Watering it again buys you a little more time.
- Each harvest gives you an Eyeball (1 point + 1 Brine Pearl), or if you’re lucky, a rare Bloodshot Eyeball (5 points + 5 Brine Pearls).
4. Feed Gulletmaw
Bring your Eyeballs to Gulletmaw and feed it. Every point you feed counts toward the global total and earns you Brine Pearls to spend in the Feed the Deep Shop.
Gulletmaw needs 600,000 points before it’s full.
Sabotage: introducing Rot Ink
This is where it gets messy.
Rot Ink can be poured on other players’ growing Eyeballs. Pour enough and the crop rots away. You can’t ink your own crops, and Rot Ink does nothing to Eyeballs that are already ready to harvest… but you might score a bonus Eyeball Seed!
But crops can fight back:
- Watering washes Rot Ink off. Anyone can water anyone’s crops, so team up with friends and defend each other’s plots!
- If your crop gets rotted, you get your seed back once the dead crop is cleared.
- Sabotage someone successfully and you have a chance to salvage a seed for yourself 😈
Where to get Rot Ink: Gulletmaw’s Shop for 15 Buoy Bucks (unlimited) or 1,000 Coins (limited to 100 every 12 hours, resetting at 00:00 and 12:00 UTC). You can also trade it with other players.

Think you’re the beach’s most dangerous gardener? Prove it.
The Sabotage Leaderboard is dynamic (like Neon Zone LBs) & tracks who rots the most crops. Top saboteurs win $PIXEL, and the #1 player takes home their very own Gulletmaw to place on their land 🦑
🎁 Milestone Rewards
Personal milestones: hit your own feeding thresholds and unlock rewards just for you. The more you feed, the more you take home!
Global milestones: as the realm total climbs toward 600,000, everyone who’s contributed unlocks rewards together. Click on Gulletmaw to see if a milestone has been hit to get your reward.
There are 7 personal milestone rewards and 8 global.
⚠️ You must feed Gulletmaw at least 20 points on your own to be eligible for global milestone rewards. Global rewards only go to players who reach 20 points before Gulletmaw is full, so don’t leave it to the last minute!
🛍️ Gulletmaw’s Shop
Spend your Brine Pearls on spooky goodies like Halloween blankets, wallpaper, skull stakes, haunted decor and more. There are also a bunch of new slab colours available (will be added to the Decor Store post-event).
Good to Know
- The event ends when Gulletmaw is full, not on a fixed date.
- Whack-a-Monster rounds and Coin Rot Ink limits reset every 12 hours, at 00:00 and 12:00 UTC.
- Items will be removed after the event, including Eyeball Seeds, Eyeballs, Rot Ink, and Brine Pearls (spend them before they’re gone!)
- The quest finishes after you play 1 round of Whack-a-Monster, grow an Eyeball, and feed it to Gulletmaw.

How to claim a stage:
- Head to https://community.pixels.xyz/requests and open a request
- Find a stage marked Open and get to work
- Hit Claim this stage
- Drop your proof: a code link, a Figma or doc link, or screenshots
- Double-check your payout wallet, then click Submit claim
Once your claim is accepted, your $PIXEL lands in the next weekly payout. 🚜

Pixels Game Updates
Taskboard:
- Adjusted over 400 tasks: quantity required, XP rewards and coin rewards.
- Some tasks now ask for surplus items like Pearly Swirl, Ashnut, Gloomshard and Sunbloom.
Bountyfall:
- Adjusted leaderboard balance from yieldstones + offerings.
- Increased hearth health to help sessions last longer.
- Pixels Machine now costs 2 heart fragments to start.
Bucks Galore:
- Kits, Soil and Trees no longer refresh weekly. Each player can now buy up to 10 of each kit and tree, and 50 soil, in total. Everyone starts fresh with this update.
